MAY and JUNE Travels

Hi family and friends,

I have decided to do a May / June blog so that I catch up and as not a lot happened in May. We were still in Darwin in early May. We went to the Parap Market for a coffee  and look around one Saturday morning. Maree came for dinner a couple of times on her way home from visiting Russ. A few animals came to visit. We had breakfast with Maree on Mothers Day later Ian and I went to visit Neilia. As we had had a few problems with the wheels on the caravan we decided to have an alignment on the wheels, axles and stuff underneath, also we hired a tow ball scale to check the tow ball weight, we were happy with the result. On Wednesday 13th we took the caravan to have the alignment done, this took from 8am to 5.30pm, it was a long day to fill in. On arriving back at the park we then had dinner with Maree and Russell before we headed of the next morning.

The scale read 330 kg on the ball 😃

While we were waiting for the caravan we had breakfast at a cafe near the park, then went to Casuarina Shopping centre for a while, lunch etc. Then we went to Lee Point to check out the caravan park and the beach ( there was a croc attack at the beach a few weeks later), then back to collect the caravan.  I was good to see Russell out of hospital after 2 weeks there. We had a quick drive down to Katherine and just stayed overnight, then off to Victoria River Roadhouse for fish and chip tea. Lots of nice people in the park that night. One old bloke had been there for 2 weeks with his dog.

From Victoria River still heading west at last we had coffee at Timber Creek arriving in Kununurra for a quick shop as we had no fruit and veg as we were now in WA and 1.5 hrs early, dinner is a Chinese restaurant that Jack and Sandra recommend, it was very nice to. From there we went on to Halls Creek, we had intended to free camp but it was to early to stop. We arrived at Fitzroy Crossing on the 18th. Didn't even unhitch, we had a nice couple next to us to chat too. The wallabies had a nice time play fighting, it was great to watch (the big lens was good).

We arrived in Broome on Tuesday 19th (only 1 day late). It was really great to get here and our friends welcome us. Mike and Ange dropped off fresh fish "um". Second night here we had fire trucks and ambulance race pass our site to rear of the park. We were all out to see what had happened, Vic one of the old blokes in the park, his caravan caught fire, he ended up in hospital in Perth for a few weeks. His caravan was a right off. Don sand Jan arrived and we had a nice few days with them and Don's brother.

When we were leaving the Sunset Bar we came across this 4x4, it was something, the next morning there were 3 like this one and a more basic model, the group were going to do a 10 day trip down the Canning Stock Route from Broome to Halls Creek down to Newman and back to Broome. Only $10 / $15 grand each. 16 people on the tour. Ron had this old caravan moved up the back so that when Vic came back he had somewhere to live. We had a little snake come to visit us one morning on the fence, also the wallabies have been in the yard behind us. Our satellite dish is placed on the other side of the fence where it works a treat, Ian can watch the Tour, I can watch Master Chef.

One Friday night down on the beach a wedding party were having photo's taken the girls just left there shoes on the beach, I missed the pair of beer bottles that the guys had to put down all the time. We have only missed one Friday down the beach but that night the weather was cloudy, windy and the sun was obscured,

Arhh just another sunset
In June Derby had a Photographic Competition on so Ian and I drove 400km return to have lunch at the wharf cafe and look at the photo's, we both enjoyed the day. Lots of beautiful photo's and some crummy one's as well. In between all this I have been sewing my Kimono Quilt which I finished in early July (photo next time).

As you can see from the photo's we haven't been doing much, just sitting round enjoying life, walking on the beach in the morning. Once we had all the bits fixed we are happy. I have sold a few photo's which is good.  All the tourist stuff that we had planned to do around Fitzroy Crossing and Derby had to be missed because of the time we lost, a week in total over the wheel problem, so I guess next trip will have to do for that.
Hoping you are all well
Cheers Marilyn and Ian
