July in Broome

Hi all,
Well Ian and I are still in Broome doing very little but enjoying ourselves anyway.
Neil and Dianne arrived at the begining of July, so the first stop on there visit we went to see the Staircase to the Moon, very cloudy, busy night at Town Beach. Friday night we went to Cable Beach for sunset and fish and chips at the general store as usual.

I have finally finished the Kimono quilt that I started in January 2014 at Halls Gap, it has turned out quite nice, but a bit big for the bed in the caravan.

On Thursday 9th we headed off to Derby with Neil and Dianne to the Mowanjum Festival (aboriginal festival) very interesting to watch the Boab nut carving (looks quite easy), kids and adults doing dot painting and having Didgeridoo lessons. The music and dancing started later than we had excepted, but was great. It was a long day as we left Broome at around 11am and it rained on and off most of the there, got home after 10pm after avoiding cattle on the roadside.

Sunset on Cable Beach
Friday night saw Ian and I at Cable Beach again for sunset. We do love going down at that time of day. Just so peaceful watching the sun close another day.

On the 21st Bob and Carla had a 60/70's beach party at Gantheaume Point, lots of music, fun and pizza with big drum fires to keep us all warm.

We have been having a quite visit this year not doing all the tourist stuff as I think we may have done most of it and what's left is quite expensive like the hovercraft!!!
That's all for now will check in again at the end of August.
Love
Marilyn and Ian
